Homework » Year 6 Literacy and Numeracy
Literacy and Numeracy lessons will be based on the National Strategies for Literacy and Numeracy.
Spellings will be taken from the NLS. Vocabulary related to the children's work in other curriculum areas, e.g science, history will also be included in weekly spellings.
Science
Forces - this will include work on all major forces such as gravity, friction and magnetism.
More about dissolving - this unit will revise the nature of solids and liquids. The children will learn about how different substances react when mixed with water.
ICT
Children will use Microsoft Powerpoint to design their own presentation. They will use Powerpoint to combine text, pictures and sound.
RE
Children will think about the function of rules in their everyday lives and learn about the principle rules followed by Christianity, Islam and Sikhism.
Art
In art lessons, they will develop their observational and drawing skills through making studies of people. They will also study the styles of artists whose work relates to this subject.
History
The children will learn what it was like for children during the second world war. They will find out about the experiences of evacuees, the effect of war on children's lives and why rationing was necessary.
Music
In music, they will study melody, song lyrics and composition.
